I recently met with some clients who just sold their home and are looking to purchase another home soon. I realized that not everyone knows about the Homebuyer Tax Credit for current homeowners! It is called the "Step Up" tax credit.

Here is a website on the homebuyer tax credit for "Step Up" buyers. http://www.homebuyertaxcredit.com. You have to live in the home you sold 5 out of the last 8 years, make less than $225,000 a year, and have a signed off offer by April 30, 2010. The house must close by June 30, 2010. If you do qualify, you get a $6,500 tax credit!

When you file your tax returns next year, you will automatically get this credit in addition to your return.
